    Why Attend?

    Full Overview

In order to reach the targets set by the Paris Agreement, significant progress will need to be made in reducing buildings related carbon emissions. According to the UN, the built environment accounts for 40% of total global energy-related carbon emissions, of which three-quarters are attributable to building operations. To reduce this impact, environmental factors need to be a priority when constructing new buildings and renovating existing properties. Decarbonisation and renewable energy are deemed increasingly more important by investors, regulators, governments, and a range of stakeholders. Government policies that fund, incentivise and mandate the decarbonisation of buildings has meant that organisations can take advantage of investments funds, green bonds and other incentives.

The integrative use of smart technologies like AI-enhanced software, sensors and cloud computing is essential for a building to reach net-zero carbon emissions. Energy is typically one of the most expensive operational costs for a building, so incorporating these digital innovations is necessary to create sustainable, energy and cost-efficient spaces. Understanding how to use automation and enhanced analytics is challenging, but is the key to ensuring buildings are sustainable and aligned with net-zero emissions goals.

In partnership with Johnson Controls and chaired by a senior Financial Times journalist, this webinar discussed how digital innovation and technology can be used to create sustainable and healthy buildings. The conversation focused on actionable strategies for tracking, planning and implementing effective sustainability practices and systems.
